Body, Spirit, Mind.
I wanted to name this site "Holistic Fitness," but that was already taken. Body, Sprit, Mind is good enough, I s'pose.
Fitness is not a single thing. It's not the guy who can run a marathon but can't bench press anywhere near his bodyweight. It's not the powerlifter who can squat like a monster but couldn't run a mile if his life depended on it.
Fitness encompasses the whole body. Training too much push and not enough pull will lead to imbalance, as will doing only upper body lifts. Similarly, there needs to be both a strength and an endurance component. I firmly believe that the body needs balance to grow properly. Many endurance athletes would be benefitted by strength training. Isolation lifts are (usually) useless. The body works as a whole, holistically (see what I did there?) A lift that only works the biceps has no application in real life.
Training also encompasses the spirit. Not in a religious sense, but in the idea of determination and valor. Training is hard. Very hard. Getting under the bar for a set of AMRAP (As many repetitions as possible) squats is scary. It takes a solid spirit to handle the demands and trials of training.
Finally, the mind. You have to be train smart. You have to know when you're overreaching and risking injury, and you have to know when you have more to give. If your talent isn't in designing programs, you have to be smart enough to let someone else design the program for you.
So yeah. BSM.
